Endeavour Releases Guidelines for Corporate and Travel Segment Update for EMV 3DS 2.1

Travel industry faces particular challenges to adopted to Strong Consumer Authentication.

The EEA SCA mandate will come into force on 1st January for the European Economic Area. While authentication works well in straight forward situations between cardholder and merchant, there are situations where this may not be the case.

One industry where this happens often is the travel industry. Flights, Hotels and Car Rentals are often booked through agents and travel portals which are acting as agents for the actual merchants providing the service.

When it comes to performing an authentication, the travel industry faces a number of challenges, such as:

• An agent may be accepting payment on behalf of actual merchant
• A payment may be made up of several underlying merchants

There is often a big delay between the Authentication and the actual clearing of the payment, beyond Authentication retention period

• The payment may be part of a number of recurring transactions
• The merchant of record may be hard to identify
• The final amount may not be known
• The Acquiring BIN and MID may not be know at time of Authentication

Endeavour has therefore released a guideline to make sure that our merchants are able to navigate the complex regulations and prevent loss of transactions.
